{EIGHT YEARS & THE CITY...}

IMG_4711.JPG

it was well needed, this little trip of ours. lately, BDH's job has been getting busier and the days have been getting longer. you know those days when you feel the tension rising and you just may burst at any given moment. lord, help. we've been counting down to this night away and are completely grateful for parents who will give up their weekend to take good care of all three of your littles so that you can celebrate the day you said i do. before we left on friday, i headed to the nail salon for some qt with the mother-in-love and then back to pack and head off to jersey city for the night.

the night before i had just gotten some much needed homeschool encouragement via a newly found homeschooling instagram community and i couldn't feel more ready to rest and get my ideas flowing and my strength rejuvenated a bit. a lot riding on this little trip of ours, right.

i thank god for my BDH who is willing to drive even after a very long week of driving for work (i hate driving). the first order of business.... a reeses peanut butter big cup. the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is everything in my book. oh how I've missed you peanut butter things. having babies with a hate-hate relationship with peanuts makes for one very peanut deprived momma.

to arrive somewhere without unpacking all of the babies !&$%# am i wrong to say that i felt guilty and grande all at the same time?  just to be alone... in a room.... with no noise.... NO WORDS!!!

after we settled in for a bit and had a few more cookies (don't judge) we headed to the metro to ride the train into the city.

can i just say that as exciting as it was to hop on the train and be heading into the city, that smell... that heat... all of those people far too close for comfort!!! i must say, i loved it and hated it all at the same time.

when we got to the city, we headed out for a nice little walk through times square and to central park...

bout 30 blocks later, we arrived and it was worth it. the best part about being in new york city is that aint nobody paying attention to you. i was in heaven. that is until, it started pouring and it was time to take that 30 block trek back to 34th street. i guess we coulda caught the train earlier or even taken a cab. but walking in the pouring rain with my boo. well, it was kinda fun on the low.

BDH asked me what i wanted for dinner. my reply, "seafood!!!". i wanted any kind of seafood there was. we are a chicken and turkey household due to food allergies and i miss seafood something fierce. we wanted to head out to a new and different restaurant, but i was soon to discover that my boo had neglected to pack the remaining articles of clothing that i laid out of the bed for myself. and the clothes i currently had on were far too soaked to be dried any time soon, so it was jammies and snuggling under covers for me until he returned from the nearest restaurant with dinner. luckily, it was bonefish grill and mussels, bang bang shrimp, calamari and crab cakes were all on the menu. (again, don't judge... it was devine!)

 ^^^ we woke up like this ^^^

well, he did, at least. i was up far too early but it gave me enough time to blow dry my hair and put on a little make up to be ready for the day. this is what you can look like when your kids aren't up and waking you up before jesus every morning.

when your husband is actually the one taking forever and a decade to get ready and then decides to send a few emails for work, what else is there to do beside taking a selfie in good lighting and writing love notes n the mirror in your favorite pink lipstick.
