{HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A REAL ONE // STARTING A MAKERLAB & THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING ROOM & GIVING SPACE...}

insane how grateful i am for the order in which these kids of mine came into our lives. my first baby, he has been, hands down/ hands up the absolute best. his compassion, creativity, courage and convictions are some of my favorite things about him.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
he moves with purpose, leads with faith and loves out loud. he’s my favorite first born!! the innovation, the thoughtfulness, and a presence of mind that’s unmatched... content of character is rich with this kid!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
my poppa, a blessing and a gift that adds to my life everyday! thankful for this gem of a child who gladly said yes to smiling and holding a giant 12 balloon in the middle of a cold & snowy morning just for his momma!

realllllllllyyyyyyyy difficult to wrap my mind around how quickly they are all growing up on me. this handsome young prince has officially made his way out of the ‘my baby’ zone and i think i’m ok with it. I think….

can we just take a moment and talk a little about how magical this snow day was?!?

he has been a gift that keeps on giving and i spend my days and nights thinking of him, his gifts and how we can bless him right back.

i’ve been thinking about how important it is for me to make room and give him the space he needs to grow. giving him pockets of time to think and process his experiences, the world around him and how he wants to contribute to it. little things like allowing him more time to spend in his room listening to music, writing, reading, separate from his siblings… separate from me. picking things up from the store on his own, dropping books off at the library, ordering food by himself and placing orders online. making space for him to engage with the world around him, making decisions for himself and for others. being at this stage feels so magical if i allow room for it.

the foundation of our family has been built by faith + love and is ever growing just the same. i’m not certain of what i am doing, he will always be our first time around in this parenting thing. i’m grateful.

i’m raising a kid whose birthday list consisted of cardboard, batteries, hockey tape and a burrito. (an actual gem). so of course i considered his heart for creativity, innovation and engineering. so, we STARTED A MAKERLAB in his bedroom and it could be the best and the worst idea i’ve had all at the same time!!

next up i’ll be sharing all about how we are building and CUSTOMIZING A MAKERSPACE W/ PURPOSE & LOVE…

a whole month later and still… happy birthday to you, my poppa bear! we love you with the whole of our hearts. we pray that the choices we make and actions we take in raising you will forever be spirit-led knowing that you were gifted to us in order to stand beside you as you go on, and grow great while the lord god of host is forever with you!!!

with all the love,
