OUR FIRST BOO BASKETS + "SPOOKY" OCTOBER/NOVEMBER PLANS // EVEN THOUGH WE DON'T CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN...
i spent the day making a boo basket w/ my boo for another soccer girlie and a time was had!!! we aren’t a halloween celebrating household but we are fans of giving good gifts and taking a moment to be a little crafty for good. I love a good “friendly” ghost as decor and the notion of witches has been at the front of our minds as I’ve planned out mini homeschool units through October/November months. exploring the details of the salem witch trials, the stage notes from wicked of stranger things while breaking down how life leads to lessons in our Live&LearnCo w/TheFallCoFamily Substack.
Im not gonna lie, seeing papers, scissors, hot glue guns and glitter sprawled all over the place made my crafty 90’s baby heart smile. My girl’s not the biggest crafter so when an opportunity rolls around, please know your girl is feeling very “help is on the way dear!!!” Inside. (Bonus points if you know where that line is from). Ive secretly loved the sounds of her pacing back and for through the house with her theories on who pulled her name. Every night she’s been running through stories, clues, suspects… every night I get to watch her have the time of her life trying to figure out who. Honestly, just plain girl fun and I’m a fan.
We came up with concepts of a plan on what we would include in her basket. Favorite color, favorite candy, favorite food. Shopping the house will always be a first around here. Tissue paper, our box of gift baskets, craft papers, ribbons and more. So much of the fun was realizing how much we already had. We took a few photos before heading off on our road trip to the girls tournament a few hours away. And, let me tell you… seeing her face as she headed down to give her gift and watching as her soccer “boo” came back to watch her open hers… priceless.
in just a few days I've collected weeks' worth of hugs. she’s still telling me how grateful she is for the help, and how much this has added to her days. And somewhere in the middle of picking out the perfect pjs and ghost slippers to match, we decided we need matching ghost pjs and a spooky October bucket list for chilly October nights ahead. Here’s a rough list of how we’ll be spending our spooky October/November days.
A Gilmore Girls marathon
A Stranger Things watch party
A Wicked rewatch at home
The Origins of Halloween Exploration
The Salem Witch Trials mock trial at home and away
Some of this is pure fun, and some will become lesson plans/unit studies and I just love that we don’t have to separate them. Hoping to walk through the planning, resources and what we actually do over on the substack if you want to follow along through October you can find us there.
with all the love,
